I learned about Original Medicare vs Medicare Advantage plan and how the Medicare Advantage plan may also offer some extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn’t cover like vision, hearing, and dental services. I learned about important dates to know for open enrollment, the chance to make changes to your Medicare coverage, and to avoid penalties. Medicare benefit is definitely one thing in our Hmong community that we all are not well educated on. There is so much to Medicare than what we know. I feel that having someone who speaks our native language and having it be delivered in a way that is easily understood will definitely help more people in our community to understand the Medicare coverage options. It’s important for our Hmong community who are on Original Medicare to understand their Medicare coverage options and to review their coverage. Also, it’s important to know that if you have limited income and resources, you may qualify for help to pay Medicare health care and drug coverage costs. I feel this was a great insight and very informative. Now I can help my parents understand their Medicare benefits and look for options that are a better fit for their needs.
